B How to Approve SLMB or QI-1 Applications Older Than Two Months

Procedures

When approving an applicant for SLMB or QI-1, the system will only automatically request the buy-in for a maximum of three months back, including the month the approval was completed. The cut-off date for AHCCCS to request a buy-in is the 25th of each month.

If approving a SLMB or QI-1 application after the 25th day of the third month, send a request to MDMA listing the additional months that will need to be requested manually.

Example 1

The customer applies for Medicare Savings Program on 5/20. The application is approved on 8/15. The system will automatically request the buy-in for June, July, and August. MDMA will need to manually request the buy-in for May.

Example 2

The customer applies for Medicare Savings Program on 5/20. The application is approved on 7/26. The system will automatically request the buy-in for June and July. MDMA will need to manually request the buy-in for May.

 

SSI-MAO Staff

Create and submit an AI listing the additional buy-in months to be requested manually.

ALTCS Staff

Send an email to the MDMA Research mailbox with the subject line stating RETRO BUY-IN, and list the additional buy-in months to be requested manually.
