Take the following steps when a customer is eligible for SLMB or QI-1 but does not have Medicare part B:
NOTE This procedure does not apply to QMB.

Approve the Medicare Savings Program if the customer meets all eligibility factors. NOTE The decision notice will tell the customer to call AHCCCS or contact Social Security to add Medicare part B. If the customer does not call AHCCCS or add Medicare part B, they will have open eligibility without any payment. |

If the customer contacts you to add Medicare Part B, explain that he or she will be responsible for the Part B premium if MSP eligibility is discontinued in the future. If this happens:

Does the customer still want MSP?

Send a referral to request the Medicare part B coverage to be updated in PMMIS.

Enter the details of the customer’s request and your conversation with the customer in case notes. |
