The following processes provide instructions for the following:

 

Procedures

1) Verifying Vehicle Values using kbb.com

Follow the steps below to verify a vehicle’s value using the Kelley Blue Book website, kbb.com.

Go to the Kelley Blue Book home page.

Click the “My Car’s Value” button.

Click the “Get Trade-in Value” button.

Select the year of the vehicle.

NOTE     If the year of the vehicle is not available in the list, you may obtain a vehicle value from NADAguides.com. NADAguides.com is considered a “disinterested knowledgeable source”. See section H.2 below.

Select the make of the vehicle.

Select the model of the vehicle.

Enter the approximate mileage of the vehicle.

Click “Next”.

Enter the ZIP Code of the customer’s residential address.

NOTE     If the customer is homeless, use a ZIP Code for the city where the customer lives.

Select the “style”, or trim level, of the vehicle.

Click “Next”.

Do you have proof that the vehicle has any non-standard equipment or options?

  • If YES, select “Select Your Options,” then select the known options from the list.

  • If NO, click “Price with Standard Equipment”.

Select the color of the vehicle.

Select the condition of the vehicle.

NOTE     Assume the vehicle is in “good” condition, unless you have proof that it is in less than good condition.

Click the “Next” button. The site will calculate the trade-in value.

Enter the value of the vehicle in the “Tell Us More About: Automobile” screen in HEAplus.

Verify the vehicle eligibility factor and upload a copy of the kbb.com screen to HEAplus or DocuWare.

 

2) Verifying Vehicle Values using NADAguides.com

Follow the steps below to verify a vehicle’s value using the nadaguides.com website.

NOTE     Only use NADAguides.com when the value cannot be verified using Kelley Blue Book.

Go to the NADAguides.com home page.

Click the “Start Now” button.

Click the “Choose" a manufacturer” button.

Select the vehicle manufacturer from the list.

Select the year of the vehicle from the drop-down list.

NOTE     If the year of the vehicle is not available in the list, the customer must provide an estimated value from a disinterested knowledgeable source.

Click the link for the model of the vehicle.

If you know the trim level (i.e. “Nissan Sentra SV”), click on the appropriate link. If you do not, click on the link that best describes the vehicle (i.e. “4 Door Sedan”).

Enter the ZIP Code of the customer’s residential address.

NOTE     If the customer is homeless, use a ZIP Code for the city where the customer lives.

Click the “Continue” button.

Enter the approximate mileage of the vehicle.

NOTE     For older vehicles, nadaguides.com may not request the mileage. In this case, continue to step 11.

Do you have proof that the vehicle has any non-standard equipment or options?

  • If YES, click the “+” sign next to “Vehicle Options” and check the appropriate boxes next to the options that the vehicle has, then click the “Continue” button.

  • If NO, click the “Continue” button.

The site will calculate the vehicle’s value.

NOTE     Use the “Total Price” or “Price + Options” listed under the “Average” column.

Enter the value of the vehicle in the “Tell Us More About: Automobile” screen in HEAplus.

Verify the vehicle eligibility factor and upload a copy of the nadaguides.com screen to HEAplus or DocuWare.
