When the ALTCS customer is approved using Community Spouse Initial Rules, verbally inform the customer, spouse, or representative and send an ALTCS decision notice to the customer explaining all of the following information:
How resources were counted under Community Spouse initial rules;
The Initial Period, including the end-date;
That the resources in the customer’s name must be within the $2,000 resource limit by the end of the Initial Period;
To whom the customer can transfer excess resources during the Initial Period without penalty (see MA904).
You may also give the customer and community spouse the Community Spouse and Transfer brochures.
