If a provider or AHCCCS health plan contacts the AHCCCS CRS Unit and indicates the customer’s CRS application needs to be expedited, the AHCCCS CRS Nurse will:
Review the medical condition; and
Get all the required documentation along with the reason for the need to expedite the application.
The AHCCCS CRS Unit will determine whether an application should be expedited based on the qualifying CRS condition and the timing of or need for treatment such as:
The customer is scheduled for surgery within the next two weeks; or
The customer is hospitalized for a potential CRS condition.
All expedited cases will be completed within 3 workdays from the time all the necessary information is received.
